Description:
MOORCROFT Large H 20.50 x W 28.00 x D 28.00 cm VASE/PLANTER "WINDY HILL" (Shape No 520/8) (Numbered Edition No 27) Signed By Designer Kerry Goodwin R.R.P. £1245.00.
(Windy Hill, a picture-perfect home in Kilmacolm, Scotland, is one of only two private homes built by Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 –1928). Mackintosh was commissioned to build Windy Hill in 1900, when he was just 32 and embarking on what promised to be a brilliant career as an architect. Furnished by him and his wife, Margaret Macdonald, the home features incredible fireplaces, panelling, stained glass, light fixtures and decorative schemes. The Art Nouveau style that will forever be associated with Mackintosh can still be seen in the glass-fronted cupboards, worktops and wood panelling. Just like Kerry, Mackintosh loved exploring the contrast between strong right-angles and floral-designed decorative motifs, and at Windy Hill he was able to give his imagination full rein. Kerry’s design honours this intrinsic part of Scottish heritage as she places Windy Hill amongst Art Nouveau swirls in surrounding meadows, footpaths and skies. The design is carefully laced with roundels of Mackintosh symbols- lines, webs and dots.)
